SAVE by purchasing your ticket online in advance of your visit!!
Below you can purchase a Standard Day Travel Ticket! This is an open ticket allowing you to choose which day you would like to visit. The ticket must be used within the calendar year in which it is purchased. The Ticket allows travel on any scheduled running day, but excluding some Special Event days when fares may differ. Tickets for these Special Events are also available from this Online Shop. Please check our Fares, Timetable and our Special Events pages for full details of opening times, fares and Special Events.
Full journey return tickets generally allow unlimited travel on one day only (subject always to availability), or for evening events for which special tickets are required. Charges may be revised at any time and will vary for special trains and events. Please note that a separate Dog Ticket will be required for any dog travelling with you on the train.
You have the option to travel First or Third Class. Around the time of the First World War demand for Second Class travel reduced and was withdrawn. As demanded by the gentry, our First Class compartments are slightly larger, carpeted, have antimacassars and larger thick padded seats. Third Class is surprisingly comfortable and the equivalent of ‘standard’ travel.
NOTICE re FIRST CLASS TICKETS..
Whilst First Class accommodation is available to purchase online, we regret it is limited on green and blue timetable days. There is wider availability on red timetable days.
WHEN BOOKING.. make a note of the 5 digit reference code and bring it with you - your tickets will be printed out on your arrival at the Booking Office.
Please Note: It is possible to purchase tickets online at any time up until your travel, subject to availability. All online ticket purchases will be confirmed by way of a four digit reference number. Please make a careful note of the number and present it to our booking office at Havenstreet, Wootton or Smallbrook Junction stations where the ticket for you to travel will be printed. The purchase will also be confirmed to you by e-mail. If you have opted to gift aid, the Booking Confirmation and Confirmation email will carry your gift aid receipt which should be retained by you.
Tickets for Infants (aged 0-4 years) are Free, but subject to a maximum of two infants per fare paying adult. Otherwise they are charged at Child (5-15 years) rate. Please note that a separate Dog Ticket will be required for any dog travelling with you on the train.
Tickets are sold on the understanding that they are non-refundable.
The purchase of Special Event Tickets is governed by our standard policy:
- Where tickets are purchased for an Event where seats are booked for a specific train, we advise all visitors to arrive at least 30 minutes prior to their booked departure. No refunds are given for missed trains. Seats on later trains cannot be guaranteed and may be subject to an administration charge. The exception to this is if you are able to notify us in advance of your non-attendance (for example, because of illness) and we are able within this notice period to re-sell your reserved seats, a refund less an administration charge will be made.
REFUNDS and alterations:
- Refunds and/or alterations requested to confirmed bookings and/or Special Event tickets will be made at the discretion of The Isle of Wight Steam Railway and will be subject to an administration charge. In any event, travel tickets and vouchers must be returned and received by us at Havenstreet Station by no less than 48 hours prior to the specified date.
TESCO Clubcard Days Out Vouchers:
The Railway no longer participates in the Tesco Clubcard Days Out Voucher Scheme.
