WALKING ROUTES

There are hundreds of miles of interesting walking routes across the Isle of Wight which immerse you in some of the most beautiful landscapes we have on offer.

With rugged coastal walks and enchanting forest trails which take you across historic downland, the best way to discover the Isle of Wight’s many hidden treasures is on foot.

For a downloadable list of walks on the Island go to the Visit Isle of Wight website.

CYCLING

Quiet country lanes and scenic off - road cycling routes make the Isle of Wight an ideal destination for a UK cycling holiday or short break.

There are cycling routes to suit everyone, with a choice of challenging off-road bridleways, peaceful byways and level purpose-made tracks on former railway lines. Within an area of just 147 square miles you will find over 200 miles of cycle routes enticing you into the countryside or along the coast.

Cycles can be hired from a number of different outlets throughout the Island and there are companies that are able to offer a delivery service, guided on - or off road guided rides.
The Isle of Wight hosts an annual Cycling Festival usually held in September/October. The festival consists of a series of cycling events encompassing all aspects of sporting and recreational cycling. The Isle of Wight Cycling Season serves both as a celebration of the sport and to reinforce the Island's position as a leading cycling destination. The event offers a range of on and off road cycling challenges for all ages and abilities as well as a varied programme of entertainment for spectators.

MAPS

There are a range of maps available to help explore the Island by bike, which are available to order through the Visit Isle of Wight website including Route No. 7 - Ryde which takes in Havenstreet.
