Train Story
The unique history of our award-winning Railway comes to life in our interactive Train Story Discovery Centre
The Museum
In the autumn of 2018 the entire 10 mile round trip of the Isle of Wight Steam Railway was granted accredited museum status by Arts Council England, meaning the entire Railway is a working museum. Within the railway shop itself there is a small artefacts gallery for visitors to enjoy.

See up-close a whole host of items from the Railway’s history including nameplates and maker’s plates from some of the earliest locomotives to run on the Island.
New for 2019, follow the pictorial timeline along the wall for an overview of Island railway history. History quite literally comes to life at the Isle of Wight Steam Railway.
The Stations
The Woodland
During your visit to Havenstreet stretch your legs and venture through the Woodland Walk. Chuckle at the cheeky messages and whimsical characters as you make your way through the trees before coming to the Woodland Stage. A charming performance area used during special events to present music, story-telling, street theatre and entertainment.

Wander along the various paths as they wind through the woods, eventually leading down to a stream. There are bridges crossing the stream and a path that takes you into a section of protected woodland owned by The People’s Trust for Endangered Species which is a Site of Special Scientific Interest. Children's Play Area
Little ones love to run around and let off steam! In our safe children’s play area they can do just that. Whilst enjoying lunch or a cuppa in the refreshment room or outside seating area you can watch your children as they explore the steam train climbing frame or play on the swings.
PLEASE NOTE: All children using the play area and equipment must be supervised at all times.
