Cancelled – Island Heritage Train Days 2000 1333 Isle of Wight Steam Railway
Book Tickets 5 April 2020

Our popular Heritage Days return for 2020. Running on either the first or second Sunday of the month between April and October, discover how the Island railways provided our daily transport. See how steam-powered train travel shaped lives from taking people to work, school or shopping, to taking livestock and farm produce to market. Goods - including coal, which was the Island’s largest import - were distributed around the Island, after arriving from one of the Island’s ports.

On Island Heritage Train Days, we endeavour to operate at least one locomotive with Island pedigree and run our heritage goods train or recall the days of the scenic Ventnor West branch by running our pull/push set 484.

Visitors may also be transported back to the 1950s and 1960s and see an early British Railways’ era ballast train operating along the line, hauled by our heritage BR Class 03 diesel D2059. Explore Train Story Discovery Centre during your visit and delve into the history of our Victorian and Edwardian railway vehicles, and the lasting impact on all our lives.
