Join us for a special gala weekend with a rich array of interest for enthusiasts.
Marvel at the sight of 4 of our large locomotives in steam each day. Engines will change after each round trip - travel all day behind all four! Look out for flagship loco W24 Calbourne resplendent in her Southern Railway malachite livery, our pair of Ivatt 2MTs, 41298 and 41313, plus a Hunslet 'Austerity'; either 198 Royal Engineer or 192 Waggoner. Trains will consist of our Edwardian bogie carriages and our magnificent rake of Victorian 4-wheelers. With lots of locomotive changes there'll be much for passengers and photographers to enjoy.
An opportunity to ride on board the newly rebuilt Drewry Railcar No 2 which will offer regular shuttles between Havenstreet and Wootton. With room for only 20 passengers, and panoramic windows at either end, you'll enjoy a unique experience with a driver's eye view along the line. Our bar and refreshments will be open at Havenstreet station; join us for a relaxing evening of real ale and trains. The railcar will depart Havenstreet at regular intervals between 17:50 and 20:20.
Why not make the most of a visit to the Isle of Wight to sample the Island's array of unusual transport. Travel aboard the new Class 484 trains running on Island Line between Ryde Pier Head and Shanklin, offering regular connections with the steam railway at Smallbrook Junction.
Our gala weekend coincides with the Rydabus event organised by the Isle of Wight Bus & Coach Museum. Buy a programme online and use it to travel on a variety of vintage buses and coaches. See www.rydabus.co.uk for further information.
See our Lineside Photography Guide for details of vantage points along the line. A popular spot is rural Ashey halt - why not alight here, then return on a later train.
Standard tickets offer one journey to both ends of the line, plus admission to all the attractions at Havenstreet station. Please note that all seats are unreserved during the gala weekend.
Rover tickets offer unlimited journeys - pay once and travel all day!
