The Great British Dog Walk

Welcome to The Great Isle of Wight Dog Walk! Join us for a pawsome day out with your doggy pals, friends for an unforgettable adventure.

We have teamed up with The RSPCA and hosting the Great Isle of Wight dog walk.

The morning walk will involve a ride on a vintage steam train to the start of a dog-friendly 3k walking route. Your vintage carriage, dating from the Victorian or Edwardian era, awaits, hauled by a magnificent steam locomotive.

The afternoon hike will be a circular 5 miler from Havenstreet. Our route heads through the extensive station site and out along gravel tracks to Great Briddlesford Farm.

Treat your pet to a commemorative tag and enjoy some dog-related fun and games, including a Family Dog Show organised by the Friends of the Animals. Enter one of the classes on the day for just £3 per dog per class.

Because of the nature of the event dogs will need to be well-behaved and be kept on a lead at all times.

RSPCA Isle of Wight

All funds raised from this event will support the Isle of Wight Branch of the RSPCA which cares for the Island’s most vulnerable animals.

We are an independent charity, supporting the work of the RSPCA locally. Our animal Centre at Rookley, cares for and rehomes dogs, cats, small animals and wildlife. Over 95% of our funding is raised on the Isle of Wight through donations, legacies, events and our charity shops.

Your ticket includes free admission to the attractions at Havenstreet Station. Take time to wander through the carriage and wagon workshops to see the restoration work underway, and visit the Train Story Discovery Centre which houses and incredible selection of vintage trains spanning 150 years of railway history.
