Cider & Cheese Festival – 2 Day Event – FREE ENTRY

A regular fixture now in the Railway’s events calendar, the Cider & Cheese weekend is always a huge hit with visitors. There are a huge variety of cheeses to choose from.

If you can’t decide on just one cheese there are platters to pick with crunchy pickles and crackers which are washed down perfectly with a pint of cider – it’s the perfect way to while away an early autumn afternoon.

Briddlesford Farm Dairy – Cheese List

Gouda: This Gouda is aged from 2-12 months on specially selected British wood from Briddlesford’s own ancient woodland.

Red: The Briddlesford Red, new for 2023, made for their anniversary from their creamy Guernsey milk. The Griffins have been farming Guernsey cows on the Island Since 1923.
With the influence of their Guernsey milk once again they have produced a very creamy, subtly tasting red cheese.

Cheddar: Our cheddar is matured for at least three months and has a deep golden colour. It is creamy and buttery with subtle complex flavours.

Feta: Briddlesford British feta style cheese is not for the faint hearted. With a sharp, salty bite it is also creamy, crumbly and smooth.

Isle of Wight Cheese Company

The Isle of Wight Soft is a soft white surface mould ripened pasteurised cheese first made in 2006. It fits nicely in between the brie and camembert brackets

Isle of Wight Blue Being naturally rinded, it is covered in green, blue, grey and white moulds. These give the cheese bags of character and the variety of surface moulds that grow on the rind will make it stand out on any cheeseboard.

Gallybagger is an pasteurised hard cheese that is currently sitting at 10-11 months old in our maturation stores. We class it as a modern British hard cheese and it is made loosely to a cheddar recipe. It is pressed in modern Dutch Gouda moulds which give it its continental shape.

Live Music on both days 1pm – 4pm

Bars from 11 am until 5pm and entry to the event is absolutely FREE! If you wish to board the steam train, usual operating day fares apply.

Wootton / Smallbrook – Havenstreet return tickets – For this event, return tickets between Wootton or Smallbrook and Havenstreet are available – £10 per adult. These tickets are ideal if you are arriving by bus at Wootton station or Island Line Train into Smallbrook and want to travel to the Festival at Havenstreet – on sale from the booking office at Wootton and Smallbrook only.

Admission-only to the Cider & Cheese Festival and Havenstreet station is FREE.
