Organised group visits of 12 or more fare paying passengers should be booked in advance to qualify for reduced rates – see HERE.
Group saver ticket: save money by travelling on our late afternoon train (arrive early to see our bird of prey display and visit Train Story).
Cream Tea & Train: a delicious tea with scones, jam and cream, followed by a train journey on our late afternoon train.

A ride on one of our steam locomotives is a feast for the senses. Experience the rhythmic sound of the cylinders, the heat from the firebox, and unmistakable aroma of a steam locomotive at work. Accompanied by our experienced driver and fireman, you’ll take a round trip of the line with the best view on the railway.
Whatever the special occasion, a footplate experience will create memories to last a lifetime.

Ryde pier Railcar experience
Hire our unique railcar for a fascinating journey along the line. You will have the exclusive use of this beautiful vehicle for you and your group.
Originally dating from 1927, the railcar spent its working life shuttling between Ryde Esplanade and the Pier Head. Now extensively rebuilt, it is ideal for a small group and with its large windows, you will enjoy a panoramic driver’s eye view up and down the line.
Available to parties up to 20 people
Availability: Any blue timetable day. You will enjoy a 1 hour round trip to both ends of the line.
Victorian train Experience
Get into the party mood on board our pair of Victorian 4-wheeled carriages. Beautifully restored, you will travel in style with your family and friends on a journey through the Isle of Wight countryside. With their two large inter-connecting saloons, these quaint Victorian veterans create a convivial atmosphere that is ideal for a medium-sized group.
We will welcome you on board with soft drinks and light refreshments, and your group will enjoy exclusive use of either one or both carriages as you make a complete round trip along the line. Duration approx. 1 hour.

Conditions of booking
GENERAL TERMS, CONDITIONS AND BYELAWS
Tickets are issued subject to the Isle of Wight Railway Co. Ltd’s “Conditions of issue of Tickets” and the 1991 ByeLaws.
Tickets bought online
Charges may be revised at any time and will vary for special trains and events. Details of all ticket prices are shown on our Fares page and Special Event pages.
Tickets for Infants (aged 0-4 years) are Free (except where shown differently, e.g.Santa Specials), but subject to a maximum of two infants per fare paying adult. Otherwise they are charged at Child (5-17 years) rate.
REFUNDS AND ALTERATIONS
Where tickets are purchased for a specific train, we advise all visitors to arrive at least 30 minutes prior to their booked departure. No refunds are given for missed trains. We will endeavour to find seats on a later departure, but this cannot be guaranteed.
If you are unable to travel (for example, because of illness), you must notify us in writing, by email, at least 24 hours in advance. We can generally rebook you on a different date, or issue a refund minus a £7.50 administration charge.
No refunds are available if you notify us less than 24 hours in advance.
Refunds and alterations will be made at the discretion of The Isle of Wight Steam Railway and will be subject to an administration charge of £7.50.
The above points do not affect your statutory rights.
COLLECTION OF TICKETS
All online pre-booked tickets are to be picked up at the Booking Office at Havenstreet, Wootton or Smallbrook Junction stations. Please make a note of your booking reference number when booking online.
STEAM LOCOMOTIVES
We endeavour to ensure that all trains are hauled by a steam locomotive (unless advertised otherwise). On occasions it may be necessary to substitute a diesel locomotive in the event of a high fire risk, locomotive failure, or other operational reason.
DOGS
Dogs are conveyed subject to the safety and comfort of other passengers and at the Railway’s discretion. They must be kept on a short lead at all times whilst on Railway property.
