41313 Returning to the Island and Ivatt Gala Announced

The locomotive Ivatt 41313 is to return to the Island and is booked on the Wightlink sailing from Portsmouth at 3pm on Tuesday 24th October.

The Isle of Wight Steam Railway contracted the East Somerset Railway to overhaul Ivatt 2MT Class locomotive 41313 on a commercial basis at its Cranmore workshops. This two-year contract was satisfactory completed and on 24 June the locomotive was launched into service on the ESR for tests and trials. It has now returned to the Island to join the sister Ivatt Class 2MT 2-6-2T No 41298 at Havenstreet.

To celebrate the restoration of 41313 the Isle of Wight Steam Railway has announced an Ivatt Gala 26th to 28th May 2018. Not only will 41313 be operating alongside 41298 but it is agreed the IWSR owned Ivatt Class 2 2-6-0 No.46447 tender locomotive will also come over from the East Somerset Railway for this historic event.
